Victor Goldsmith is the first Associate Provost for Research and Economic Development at Pace University, NYC, serving for 10 years. As such, he is in charge of all external university research proposal submissions. Formerly, he was founder and Director of the CUNY-Wide Center for Applied Studies of the Environment of the City University New York, and Professor in the Dept. of geography at Hunter College.
He has served as in an advisory capacity to former Police Commissioners Bratton, Safir and Kerick, as a Co-Chair of an NYPD-CUNY Crime Mapping Technology Committee, where he assisted in developing new methodologies in computer crime mapping and analyses, police training ion crime mapping, and new technological developments. A pioneering book, 3analyzinf Crime Patterns: Frontiers of Practice” has resulted from seven years of these joint NYPD/CUNY efforts.
