In this programme dedicated to the energy and sustainability of our cities, three moments in this history are addressed. The past, with the explosion of fossil fuels and their impact on the organisation of the world, is the subject of Timothy Mitchell, professor at Columbia and author of Carbon democracy, a political history of energy. The current moment of energy transition, with all its uncertainties, is detailed through a conversation with Antonio Turiel, scientist at the CSIC and author of Petrocalipsis and Sin energía. And the future is discussed with Hélène Chartier, director of the urban planning section of c40, the alliance of cities against climate change.
